NHL Free Agency 2012: Minnesota Wild on Short Lists for Zach Parise and Ryan Suter

Nah nah na boo boo.
Nah nah na boo boo.

Early in the day today, the Wild's Twitter account sent out a tweet announcing that they had offered contracts to Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. The tweet seemed innocuous enough, but apparently the hockey world was still bored and needed something to entertain themselves with. There were several tweets in response, only a handful of which were creative or entertaining.

The LA Kings, of course, came with the heat, tweeting that they were talking about offering some free agents contracts. Others were just lame with comments like "That's cute" and the like. We aren't anti-Wild bashing, but we are stoic in our resolve that it at least be funny. Otherwise, you just look the kid who can't come up with anything better than "Oh, yeah? Well... your mom!"

Tonight, Russo reports that the Wild are on the short lists for both Parise and Suter, though no decision is likely to be made tonight. (Ben Goessling at the Pioneer Press says each player has three teams left.) The word is that Parise will likely decide tomorrow, Suter giving no indication on a timetable. Guess all that cute offering of contract stuff must have at least made an impression.

Does this mean the two stars will sign with the Wild? Nope. I still have some pretty strong doubts. That said, it doesn't seem to be quite as ludicrous as many outside Minnesota seem to think it is. After all, in a world that can see Red Wings fans do an about face and love Jordin Tootoo, anything is possible, right?
