Weekly Wrap Up – the I missed a week edition

Wild: The Wild kicked off their season at home against Colorado on the 19th with a 4-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche. Backstrom had the first start of the season and goals were scored by Granlund in his NHL debut, Bouchard and 2 by Heatley. The following night, they faced the Dallas Stars for a 1-0 shut out win by Josh Harding. The lone goal was scored by Zach Parise. On Tuesday the 22, they faced the Nashville Predators but failed to solve Chris Mason. Backstrom was in the net for the 1-3 loss. The goal was scored by Dany Heatley. Friday night they faced the defensively challenged Detroit Red Wings and failed to capitalize on that. Harding took the 3-5 loss. Goals were scored by Tom Gilbert and 2 by Zach Parise. Last night, they lost in overtime to the St. Louis Blues. Backstrom in net with a 4-5 loss. Goals were scored by Koivu, Heatly and 2 again by Parise. The Wild face Blue Jackets Tuesday.

Aeros: The Aeros started with a 1-3 loss to the Chicago Wolves on the 19th. Matt Hackett took the net and the lone goal was scored by McMillan. The following night, they lost 2-6 to the Peoria Rivermen. They again went with Hackett and the goals were scored by Veilleux and Dowell. January 23rd, they faced the Milwaukee Admirals, this time with Darcy Keumper getting the start and a 3-2 win. The goals were scored by McIntyre, Zucker and Petersen. They stayed with Kuemper for the Grand Rapids run and beat the Griffins 1-0 with Fontaine scoring the only goal. The following night, they beat the Griffins 5-2 with goals scored by Palmieri, McIntyre, Larsson and 2 by Coyle. They are next in action February 1st against the Texas Stars.

Solar Bears: The Solar Bears took to the ice January 17th against the Wheeling Nailers for a 7-2 win. John Curry was in the net and the goals were scored by Liambas, Gendur, Blair, Mahovksy, Tanski and 2 by Neal. They took the second night of a 3 game home stand against the Nailers with a 3-2 overtime win, again going with Curry. Goals were scored by Mignardi, Cruthers and Tanski. The final night against the Nailers, was a 2-1 shoot out win for Curry. Cruthers had the lone goal in regulation and Neal had the lone shoot out goal. They then began a 3 game road trip starting with the Gwinnet Gladiators; this was a 4-3 win for John Curry. Goals were scored by Lawrence, Cruthers and 2 by Sisca. Then it was onto the South Carolina Sting Rays. New goaltender Patrick Killeen would get the start since the club released Hannu Toivonen to seek opportunities in Europe and Mike Brodeur is still injured. He would see a 3-9 loss in his debut. Solar Bears goals were scored by Cruthers, Neal and Sisca. The following night, John Curry would get the start but would be pulled for Patrick Killeen after allowing 4 goals in a 2-5 loss. Goals for the Bears were scored by Severyn and Neal.
