Wilderness Walk 10-13-2013: That's what I'm talking about Edition

The Dallas Stars on the 2nd night of back-to-back were laid out just 12 seconds into last nights game, they would not recover.

That Wilderness, is what I'm talking about. The Minnesota Wild continue to impress and despite starting the season slow in the win column, they are consistently out playing their opponents and are sporting a league leading 21.4 shots against per game average. Now I'm not going to sit here and pretend to understand the numbers from this link Ger posted in the recap last night, but from what he's saying they are impressive and I think I'll just take his word for it.

We still have 77 games left in this season folks, so don't start counting your chickens quite yet, we've seen the Wild hit the high water mark early in a season before only to slowly recede back into the sea. This team does not look like the ones we have become used to in years past, something feels very different these days and I have to tell ya I am genuinely excited to see how this plays out over the next 6 months.

Your Minnesota Wild are heading out East next, for their first games against the Eastern Conference since the 2011-2012 season. Next on the Wild's schedule is the Buffalo Sabres who are still searching for their first win after 6 games. This will be an excellent time to show Thomas Vanek just what he can expect when he puts on Iron Range Red next season.

If you would have told me when we signed Cooke in the off-season, he would have put up a point a game through 5 and not taken a penalty, I would have called you foolish. The egg is solely on my face here.

Not entirely terrible, the head coach they started the season with is out for the remainder of this season, in Philadelphia at least.

This headline is not deceiving. Wow, very unfortunate for the Canucks, and ... wow! - GARTH'S CORNER - Miller Deserves Better Fate
As much as I would love to get Miller in the fold here, I'm not sure the Wild are in a position to trade away any assets right now nor would they have the cap space to take on 6.25 million cap hit. Buffalo would likely be looking for youth and picks, so the dream of trading Heatley for Miller which would clear up the cap space will remain just that, a dream.
