Wilderness Walk: 10-24-2013: Game Day Edition

Brodin-less, the Wild play the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Well, Jonas Brodin had about as good of news as you could have after taking a puck to the face. He didn't break his jaw or his orbital bone, which would have left him out for an extended period of time.

There is bad news, however: He broke his cheekbone, and will be out for tonight's game, and is out indefinitely.

It's "indefinitely" because it's unsure of whether he'll need surgery or not. If he doesn't need surgery on his cheekbone, they can get him in a cage, and back on to the ice much sooner. If it's surgery, well...

We'll comment more as new information is released. Until then...

Wild defense carries on without Jonas Brodin, who has broken cheekbone -

No Sophomore Slump for Jonas Brodin- This is the true reason to be bummed out about this. Like Charlie Coyle before him, Brodin was injured at a time when he was seemingly bringing his game to another level. Hopefully, both will be back soon.

Quick question- would it be insane to try to have Ryan Suter bring Dumba along like he did with Brodin last year? Kind of like a Shea Weber-Seth Jones-type thing? Or does that only work if you're dealing with someone ridiculously advanced.
