Another game day is upon us Wilderness as your Minnesota Wild run into the divisional rival Winnipeg Jets tonight at the Excel Energy Center. This will be the Jets second trip to the X this season, dropping the first contest 2 - 1 on October 10th. The West is a tight race from top to bottom, unless you're the Calgary Flames or Edmonton Oilers, and these conference and divisional games are going to be huge as the season moves along.
The Wild have a shot at a tie at the top spot in the division tonight with a win as the Chicago Blackhawks were trounced by the Nashville Predators last night. They would also need some help out in Washington D.C. as the St. Louis Blues faceoff against the Washington Capitals and a Blues win would put them up by a point over the Blackhawks and Wild (assuming the Wild get the win tonight as well).
We have some good nuggets for you to chew on in the walk today folks which should make for some good discussion topics for your Sunday. Enjoy the walk kids, see ya in the Game-Day Thread later.

It is nuts folks. How good the West is this year it is nearly impossible to get a leg up on the competition. I think we'll start seeing some separation as we get into more games against the West.

Michael Russo's Sunday Insider: Cap hurts swap meet | Star Tribune
Overtime, this needs to change in the NHL. I've been of the opinion that a 10 minute 4 on 4 overtime would be the way to go. Think of it NHL, it gives you enough time to squeeze in another commercial break which equals ad revenue. However Russo brought something up last game (I believe he was quoting Zach Parise) on the points system being adjusted as well, and I like where that was going. The Parise system I'll call it would be 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime or shootout win and 1 point for an overtime or shootout loss. This puts the emphasis on getting wins in regulation which should be the goal folks.
