The Minnesota Wild have placed goaltender Josh Harding on the IR and called up forwards Jason Zucker and Johan Larsson. Both are expected to play tomorrow versus the Red Wings.
The moves come as the Wild struggle to find their routine, and struggle to both score goals and prevent them. Zucker will most likely slot in somewhere in the top six, while Larsson should put some pressure on the guys in the bottom six to get their acts together.
These moves are likely to be very popular with fans as many have wondered why Zucker was not the call up when Charlie Coyle got his cup of coffee earlier in the month. Zucker will bring speed and a scoring touch that could be a boon to the Wild should he find a way to click with one of the top two lines.
Larsson will be making his NHL debut, and will be an interesting story line to watch. Wherever you think Larsson should play, he is likely going to be a swing second / third liner, and will definitely put some real pressure on guys like Zenon Konopka, Matt Cullen, Kyle Brodziak, and Torrey Mitchell.
What do you think Wilderness? Good, bad, or otherwise.
