Minnesota Wild @ Calgary Flames: Game 42 preview

Preview of tonight's game that suddenly seems not so important

Derek Leung

We here at Hockey Wilderness would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the City of Boston, and all of our love to anyone impacted in anyway from the tragedy. In a show of love and support for our friends in Boston, please bring your normal game thread love over to Stanley Cup of Chowder. They will be hosting all hockey fans tonight.

We will, of course, have a game recap after the game. Until then... We're shipping up to Boston.

It's game day folks. Your Minnesota Wild just finished up their pre-morning skate in Calgary and there's a ton of news coming in from the team. Let's jump right in.

Ryan Suter did not skate with the team this morning, which honestly isn't surprising with his injury. Per Yeo he will be playing tonight.

Matt Cullen is finally back in the line-up tonight, and will be skating with Devin Setoguchi and Jason Zucker.

Pierre-March Bouchard will be skating with Kyle Brodziak and Jason Pominville.

Charlie Coyle will be on the top line with Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise. Hopefully he lasts more than 17 seconds this game.

The 4th line will consist of Mike Rupp, Torrey Mitchell and Cal Clutterbuck.

That means Mikael Granlund is the forward scratch. Honestly, it's a good guess that this happened because Granlund was an emergency call-up for Cullen. With Cullen back in, Granlunds 2.1 mil salary cap hit would count against the cap and actually put them over. It also would only leave one non-emergency call up for the rest of the regular season.

This game, which was so important just a few hours ago, has managed to become somewhat unimportant in the overall grand scheme of life. But fans will tune in to keep their minds off the horrible events in Boston. No one here will judge you for being here tonight, or not being here.
