Good morning Wilderness! The NHL season is officially over as we crowned the Chicago Blackhawks the NHL Stanley Cup Champions last night in Boston. Perhaps at some point today you may have a free moment to stop over to Second City Hockey and congratulate them or maybe just sit in the shadows and watch them gloat. Either way, it was an incredible series, full of hard fought cliche's and other sporting banter that surely will be discussed at length for an undetermined amount of time.
hate have to toot my own horn here, but I do believe this guy here called the series, Hawks in 6. Yup, I'm feeling pretty satisfied with myself and my skills of prediction. I do also believe not long ago I called for Patrick Kane to win the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP. Now that's probably a little less impressive due to the awesome factor attached to Kaner, but impressive nonetheless.
I'll give you a little bit of time Chicago, enjoy your day in the sun and congratulations on winning the Stanley Cup. Please realize when I say this, that its not that I don't like your city, or the people who call the Windy City home. But next season your kind of turning into our divisional rival up here. It's been fun Chicago, but soon enough the gloves come off, and we can go back to hating each others teams like it was meant to be.
In other news, as you have probably been made aware of, the Minnesota Wild signed Niklas Backstrom to a 3-year extension, the Solar Bears get a new bench boss while the Iowa Wild are seemingly left without a coaching staff, and hockey players are tough as nails. All that and more in your morning links.

Fletcher on re-signing Cullen: "Challenging but not impossible;" Wild depth chart | StarTribune.com
It would be nice to get veteran back. The pocket book got a little lighter with the Backtrom extension. With no rumors of buyouts in the works the chances the Wild come to terms with Cullen are getting lighter as well.

Wanted: A coaching staff for the Iowa Wild | The Des Moines Register | desmoinesregister.com
Excuse me, but what is going on here Des Moines Register? Here I am ready to have a fun read and post a witty "GOT COACHIN SKILLZ?" comment, and you pull something like this. Your getting off on the wrong foot here guys, I'm not impressed. Surely you have access to NHL/AHL photo's from around the league. So why on Earth would you choose a picture of the Blackhawks bench for an article about your new found AHL team? Are the people of Iowa that oblivious to hockey outside of the Chicago-land area? I simply don't get it.

Patrick Kane claims the Conn Smythe | ProHockeyTalk
I can't argue with this. Could have gone to Crawford as well, but can't be upset with Kaner getting the nod here.

With three first-round picks, Kekalainen says Columbus will be ‘active and aggressive’ at Draft | ProHockeyTalk
If you want to jump back into the 1st round, you may have to go through Columbus. With their 14th, 19th, and 27 overall picks, what do you think would be fair for the Wild to give up and move back into the opening round of this years NHL Entry Draft.
