2013 NHL Entry Draft: Wild Acquisitions

Check out all the info you need to know about who the Wild picked up through drafting and trading

Afternoon Wilderness! Welcome to the thread that where we will showcase drafts and trades for the Wild today. This will allow everyone to discuss new players in-depth, away from the hustle and bustle of the draft thread.

First trade of the day belonged to the Wild and the New York Rangers. The Wild said goodbye to defenseman Justin Falk (Not Justin Faulk, like a lot of MSM thought apparently) and said hello to Benn Ferriero and a 2014 6th round pick. I talked to Mike from Blueshirt Banter earlier today and this is what he said.

It is hard for me to give a useful or informed analysis of Benn Ferriero and what he will and won't bring to the Wild because he played just 4 games with the Rangers (he scored just 1 assist). What I do recall about Ferriero (other than having a few extra consonants in his name) from his brief appearance as a Ranger is his great skating ability and high energy-level. A bottom-six forward who competes, skates fluidly, and plays much bigger than his frame should have been a great fit in New York but John Tortorella had a lot of players trying to crack into the bottom six of the Rangers this past season.

I also talked to Mike Damante, who covered the Aeros the last few seasons and is a HUGE Rangers fan. He said Ferriero will make a great edition to the Iowa Wild, but probably won't crack the MN wild's lineup

Incoming: Cal Clutterbuck and the 70th overall pick (3rd rounder) has been traded to the New York Islanders for Nino Niederreiter
