Minnesota Wild
vs
St. Louis Blues
In the first game since making substantial cuts to its roster, the Minnesota Wild take on the St. Louis Blues. In Coach Mike Yeo's pre-game media chat, he made it clear he isn't focused on the Blues tonight. Tonight's game is about the team itself, and how they are going to work together.
For the most part, the players on the ice tonight will be the players you see to start the season off. Mikael Granlund is out again tonight due to injury, but Yeo made it clear that FBJ hasn't been cut, and that he is being kept out as a precaution. Granlund will be playing in Friday's game.
Kaptain Mikko Koivu will play his first game as a father, his fiancee gave birth to a baby girl the couple named Sofia yesterday. Cue everyone's awww sound.
As always, the Blues look to bring a large physical presence to the game. It will be interesting to see how the Wild adjust to that during the game. For those of you attending the game, keep an eye on the special teams. With the roster being set for the most part, Yeo made a point to say that the coaching staff is expecting a lot out of this final group when it comes to special teams.
Tonight's line-up is as follows (most likely)
Minnesota Wild | St. Louis Blues | |
Zach Parise - Mikko Koivu - Jason Pominville
