Wild Sign Ryan Carter

New, comments
Bruce Bennett

According to Russo, the Wild have signed One of Us Ryan Carter, of the Ducks and Devils, to a 2-way contract worth $715,000. Because Carter spent all of training camp in Hoboken New Jersey, Russo's guess is that Carter will start in Minnesota.

According to War on Ice, Carter put up points at .84 Points per 60 in his 62 games last season at 5v5. In his 7-season career, Carter has been a positive Corsi player for 3 years, including the previous 2 seasons.

The move is likely a move for depth, preparing for injury, etc. Carter has not been horrendous, from a #FancyStat point of view, but nor has he been stellar. The winger has played against relatively easy competition, and with relatively bad teammates for the past few seasons, and is likely hoping to re-start his career; at 31 years old, time is running short for the White Bear Lake native.
