PREVIEW: Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild

New, comments

Tonight the Dallas Stars visit the Xcel Energy Center as the Minnesota Wild look to continue their hot streak on home ice.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

For the Minnesota Wild, there is nothing quite like a little home cooking so far this season. And as if they needed any more advantage on home ice, the Dallas Stars are playing their 2nd night in back-to-back games, traveling from Anaheim last night where they lost 2-1 in overtime against the Ducks.

The good news, it looks like the Wild will get a few pieces back tonight as Erik Haula and Christian Folin will re-enter the lineup. Jonas Brodin will likely return as well, helping to bolster an already solid defense. Jonathon Blum was also recalled from Iowa for tonight's game, but will likely only see ice time if Brodin is unable to go.

The bad news, Jared Spurgeon was placed on IR and will miss his first game of the season tonight. Spurgeon was on the receiving end of a Joe Pavelski hit last game, running into the boards pretty hard. He has been listed with an upper body injury. Matt Cooke will remain out of the lineup as well as he is nursing a lower body injury. Ryan Carter will also miss tonight's game, but nobody will miss him.

In 51 games against the Dallas Stars the Wild are 18-25-1-7, and last season the Wild went 2-2 against the Stars, winning both of their home games. The Stars are also going to be missing some pieces this evening as Valeri Nichushkin, Sergei Gonchar, and Patrick Nemeth will all be out of tonight's lineup.
