After losing all three games away from home and stretching their losing streak to four games, the Wild head home to face the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo has had a ROUGH go of it, winning just three games this year. They are last in goals per game, and have allowed the second-most goals this year. Now the Wild havent been much better lately, having scored just three goals and allowing 14 goals during this four game slide. Trying to snap his team about of this funk, head coach Mike Yeo has changed up the lines.
#MNWild lines: Zucker-Koivu-Pominville Niederreiter-Granlund-Coyle Vanek-Haula-Schroeder Carter-Brodziak-Fontaine— Chad Graff (@ChadGraff) November 13, 2014
Jason Zucker has risen from the ashes and will now play on the top line with Mikko Koivu and Jason Pominville. The third line is what intrigues me as they are all Don Luchia descendents. Jordan Schroeder was called up from Iowa last night as the Wild sent down Velliuex. When you break it down, Minnesota has six forwards dressing tonight that played in the WCHA. Indications are Jared Spurgeon will be able to dress tonight for the first time this month. Zach Parise will not dress tonight but (hopefully) will be returning soon.
Remember when Keith Ballard had the mumps? Well it sounds like Marco Scandella and Jonas Brodin are also infected with the virus and both missed today's morning skate. The virus has been seen from coast-coast as its infected everyone from players, to even officials. There's a lot of connections in tonight's game. Keith Ballard, Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek were all drafted by Buffalo. Matt Moulson, Torrey Mitchell and even Matt Hackett are former members of the state of hockey. Its a runion at the X! Hopefully its mumps and loss free. Check back at 6:45 for the gamethread.
