Tonight the Wild are in the city of brotherly love to take on the
Goldbergs favorite team, Philadelphia Flyers. Minnesota has been off for the last three days and is currently riding a three-game winning streak. Mike Yeo is expecting a very physical and motivated Flyers team tonight. He talked to the press today about the Wild becoming "too stale" and doesn't want Minnesota to fall in the same "dark place" again. He also wants to see if different lines can score the puck more away from the X, as the Wild have scored just 17 goals in 9 road games. Stu Bickel will dress over Kyle Brodziak as he believes Bickel, "will be motivated and wants to make sure our guys are ready to play a physical type game."
Philadelphia is coming off their ninth straight loss in New York and contrary to Wild, they have lost three straight. Not to mention this isn't exactly a building where the Wild have played too well in. The .833 points percentage at home is the highest points percentage the Flyers have against any NHL team on home ice (7-0-1). Minnesota's last win in Philly came in the 2002-03 season and their 23 all-time goals against Philadelphia are the fewest against any team.
Yeo will shuffle all the lines around but only keep the top line intact of Parise - Koivu - Pominville. Charlie Coyle will center with Jason Zucker and Thomas Vanek as Yeo wants both of them to get going more. Zucker has no points in his last eight and Vanek has just one goal this season. Vanek has had success against Philly in the past, with 29 points in 33 career games. Justin Fontaine will move up with Mikael Granlund and Nino Niederreiter. Erik Haula and Ryan Carter will be on the 4th line with Stu Bickel but expect that line to be a carousel. Mr . Russo told us that Yeo will alternate double-shifting forwards at times in the game to skate with Erik Haula and Ryan Carter. Check back at 5:45 for the gamethread.
