Wilderness Walk: Game Day Edition

New, comments

The Wild are in the desert tonight to take on the Arizona Coyotes

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

With only 15 wins in 27 games, Wild fans are starting to get a bit frustrated.  The team hasn't looked bad, but they just aren't living up the potential many of us expected going into the season.

Mike Yeo lit into his team at before yesterday's practice, criticizing attitude and effort.  Zach Parise said the message was "probably long overdue."

The Wild currently sit five points out of a playoff spot. The good news is there is still plenty of time to turn it around.  Perhaps it begins tonight against the Arizona Coyotes, who have lost four straight and are just above Edmonton in the standings.  The Wild will need to play a complete game to pick up a road win and restore some confidence.

Angry Mike Yeo: "We're tired of being on the cusp;" Zach Parise concurs | Russo's Rants | - Apparently Yeo's speech was very "colorful." I would have loved to have been in the arena.

Minnesota Wild's subpar play lights coach Mike Yeo's fuse - - Last year, the Wild saved their season after a heart-to-heart in Phoenix.  Could it happen again?

Ryan Carter: From White Bear to the Wild - A nice look at Carter's roots at White Bear Lake.  Speaking of, make sure to check out Ryan Carter's Becoming Wild episode.  It's probably the best since the first season and actually has some great in-game footage.

That’s some quality defense there, Thomas Vanek (Video) | Puck Daddy - Yahoo Sports - Besides this..whatever this was...I actually thought Vanek had a decent game, at least offensively.

Sidney Crosby being held out for next two games ... mumps suspected? | Puck Daddy - The big news of the day: Sidney Crosby probably doesn't (but totally does) have the mumps.  The picture is both gross and hilarious.

A stagnant cap would change the entire league (Trending Topics) | Puck Daddy - Next year's cap will most likely go up, but maybe not as much as some teams hope.  Teams like Chicago and Los Angeles could be hit hard.

Jack Eichel on Connor McDavid, Arizona State hockey and USA vs. Canada (Puck Daddy Interview) | Puck Daddy - Eichel is really an exciting player.  Bold prediction: he will go on to have a better career than Connor McDavid.

NHL gets it right with no hearing for Seidenberg on Jonathan Toews hit | Puck Daddy - Chicago fans are upset but I think this is the right call.  It was a tough hit but nothing intentional or malicious.

Islanders place Cory Conacher on waivers | theScore - Conacher has had a rough season but he still has talent.  I wonder if any team takes a risk on the 24-year old.
