Preview: Oilers @ Wild Game 66

Cooke's playing in his 1000th game tonight.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Afternoon ya filthy animals. Tonight the Wild continue their season-long homestand and welcome the Edmonton Oilers. Today is a big milestone for #24, as Matt Cooke's geared up for his 1000th game of his career. Becoming the 286th player ever to do so. Cooke joins Keith Carney, Andrew Brunette and Matt Cullen to reach the milestone in a Wild sweater. Another significant milestone is on the horizon for the Wild, as captain Mikko Koivu is two points away (435) from passing  franchise leader Marian Gaborik's career mark of 437.

El Nino is having a nice stretch of games as well, and I'm still perplexed the Islanders gave him up for some guy named Cal and a mid round draft pick. Nino has five points in his last seven games and leads the Wild with 148 hits and ranks second with a plus-11 rating this season. Matt Moulson has registered a point in both contests for the Wild since being acquired from the deadline. Moulson has netted 47 power play goals since the 2009-10 season and only three other players in the show have had more in in that span

Darcy Kuemper should be back in between the pipes tonight after getting a day off on Sunday. Kuemper is 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA, .976 SV% and one shutout in two starts against Edmonton this season.

Puck drop in St. Paul at 7:00 and the game can be watched on Fox Sports North and heard on 100.3 FM KFXN in the Twin Cities.
