Wilderness Walk: Playoff Game 5 Edition

Time to gear up for an all-important Game 5 between the Avalanche and Wild.

Hannah Foslien

It ain't a series until someone wins on the road!  The cliché gets overused every year come playoff time, but it is always true.  As a wild card team, the Wild need to win at least one game at the Pepsi Center.  Why not make it Game 5?

The last two games have been a lot of fun.  The Wild evened the series at home and did so in dominating fashion.  The team now leads the league in every possession statistics category.  In other words, they are playing games the right way.

Perhaps the most surprising stat of the series thus far: Zach Parise, Mikko Koivu, Jason Pominville, and Matt Moulson all have a combined 0 goals.  The young kids have stepped up in a big way, from Charlie Coyle and Mikael Granlund leading the offensive attack to Nino Niederreiter and Erik Haula shutting down Colorado's top scorers.  It might be unreasonable to expect a Cup out of this team, but having the young guys gain valuable playoff experience will pay dividends in the long run.

Game time tonight is 8:30 p.m.

Make sure to stick around the Wilderness for more coverage.
