Wilderness Walk: What The Falk? Edition

The Wild make another big splash in free agency.

Holy cow folks, I still can't believe Chuck Fletcher was able to steal defensemen Justin Faulk from Carolina.  He really is the best GM in the...wait.  The other Justin Falk?  Well that's depressing.

Let's look at the bright side here.  Falk is (hopefully) just a depth signing to bring some experience to Iowa that will allow the younger defensemen like Dumba and Olofsson to be called up to the big club.  He is a known commodity to the fans and the coaching staff.  He's also a big body (6-5, 215) who can fight if needed.

WIth luck, he'll never be needed in St. Paul this year.

On to the Walk.

Fletcher on Niederreiter, Kuemper; Wild depth chart | Russo's Rants | The brass continues to work on Niederreiter and Kuemper without much of a hurry.  Also, the Wild will most likely be well below the cap for the first time in a long time.  Added flexibility makes it easier to work deals mid-season.

Jordan Schroeder: Potential vs. Production In Minnesota- Call me a pessimist, but I just don't see Schroeder making an impact on this team.  The top-9 is just too crowded for him to get a quality chance.
