Wilderness Walk: Game Day Edition

New, comments
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Wild will take the ice tonight without their point-and-goal leader Zach Parise, who is injured after being taken down by James Neal in the Wild's last bout.

Tonight, we see Steven Stamkos and his Lightning. Will the Wild find a way to win? Or will they succumb to defeat against the boys in blue (well, white). For our musical selection today, we have a phenomenal group of guys singing some songs that will be from the good old days in 20 years. Heck, some of them already are.

Foreword: I've not taken care to remove all hint of the Kane proceedings from my walks. I know others have done so, and I respect and understand their decision. To me, it's a goings-on of interest and import, even if it is nasty in every sense of the word. As things have wound down, this will (hopefully) be the last Kane-centric article I post in my walks. If I find something else that presents a new take or is particularly worthwhile, I will include it, but I will refrain from posting any summations or poorly-written diatribes. Throughout the process I've been proud to be a member of our community, as I've felt we discussed and handled the case as responsibly as you could reasonably expect. Thank you.

The aftermath of the Patrick Kane case is one of ruin. Trust ruined. Faith in equity – and frequently in humanity, given the toxic nature of the debate over the Chicago Blackhawks and their star’s actions – ruined.  Lives forever changed.

Wild forward Zach Parise will miss 'next couple of games' | TwinCities.com
the Wild were forced to skate with only 11 forwards at practice Thursday because they didn't have the cap space to call up a forward from the minors -- the first tangible evidence of how third goalie Niklas Backstrom's $3.4 million contract is hindering the team.
