Preview: Wild @ Coyotes, Kuemper in the desert

It's the Darcy Kuemper show in Arizona

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

After four days off the Minnesota Wild face off with the Arizona Coyotes tonight in Glendale, Arizona. Despite the days off, Devan Dubnyk is not 100 percent and he'll miss the next two games for the Wild. Instead Darcy Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom will be the goaltenders for the Wild during their two game road trip. Kuemper starts tonight and no word on who starts tomorrow in San Jose. It will be just the fifth start for Kuemper this season. Kuemper has made one career start against Arizona, earning a shutout last season. Minnesota holds a five-game win streak in Arizona, dating back to Feb. 28, 2013, and has gone 8-2-0in its last 10 contests in Arizona

The Wild recalled Tyson Strachan from Iowa and reassigned Mike Reilly to Iowa. Strachan (who's a defenseman) will not dress tonight but his size could play factor in tomorrow night in San Jose. Yeo plans to trot out the same six defenseman against Arizona. After a hot start to the season the Zuker-Koivu-Nino line has been quiet offensively. Yeo has still liked what he has seen and figures the goals will come soon enough. Koivu leads Minnesota with 27 points (7-20=27) in 32 games against Arizona. Also Chris Porter is set to play in his 200th NHL game tonight.

No word whether its Mike Smith or Anders Lindback in net for the Coyotes tonight. Both have not played particularly well this season. The Coyotes come out fast in the first period, scoring the fourth most goals (25) in the first period this season. Yet, Arizona is just 10-6-0 when scoring first this year. While the Wild are 12-2-1 when scoring first this season and have posted a 7-0-1 record when leading after the first period. Puck drop is at 8pm central time. Go Wild!
