Wilderness Walk: Game Day Edition

New, comments

Trade season came on strong in the NHL with big trades going down yesterday between Buffalo, Winnipeg and Dallas. The Wild got a much needed day of rest to prepare for a stretch of 9 games in 18 days. Will they feel compelled to jump in the market to keep pace with the other wildcard hopefuls?

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

The Evander Kane saga took another turn yesterday with he and Zach Bogosian finding a new home in Buffalo.  Kane won't see the ice until at least the start of the 2015-2016 season, so we won't get to know who won the trade for some time.  Dallas also went shopping and picked up Jhonas Enroth from the Sabres, a netminder the Wild were linked to before trading for Devan Dubnyk.  I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure Minnesota ended up with the right guy.  With two of their closest competitors making trades to improve their immediate chances, it may push the Wild make a move, with their greatest need being a left-shot defender with #gritz.

No news as the team enjoyed its day off other than Brett Sutter was returned to Iowa as Stephane Veillieux was recalled.  Look to see the Iowa captain draw into the lineup against Florida to provide some energy to a tired team that played the game before last short 2 forwards and last game going to overtime.

#OneOfUs Nick Bjugstad leads his Florida Panthers into Minnesota on the heels of a 6-2 rout of the Bryz-backed Ducks. The Wild will need to come out like they have something to prove as they need to grab 2 points in this game to continue their battle from the abyss.  Look for Devan Dubnyk to continue to try to save the season tonight.

We'll start the Walk with a little man who can shred.
