The playoff picture is starting to take shape as the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, and Nashville Predators have clinched a berth in the postseason. The bottom of the Western playoff picture remains foggy as the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings are separated by 5 points total, and fighting for 3 spots. The Wild sit 2 additional points beyond that cluster. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming opponents that have already clinched manage their roster. Will they rest key veterans to prepare for the playoffs or will they keep everyone in to try to make them sharp?
Individual accolades are also starting to be tabulated, and a familiar name is finding himself thrust into the Vezina and Hart trophy discussions by more and more national press. And our favorite team is finally generating some attention from media outlets for their team play and success over the last 2 months. Both ESPN and Bleacher Report have listed the Wild #1 in their Power Rankings.
