When the Wild lost to the Blues today, they eliminated Nashville as an opponent. The choice would be left to Anaheim; if they won in regulation or overtime, they would face Chicago. If they lost or won in a shootout, they would face the Wild. After the Coyotes decided to end their season early, the Wild will be facing the Blues in the first round.
The Wild were 2-2 against their divisional rivals this season. For some reason, something about the Blues seems to throw the Minnesotans off their game. Key rivals on the team are American Hero TJ Oshie, young stud Vladimir Tarasenko, and resident bad boy David Backes.
It should be noted that one of those two losses was today, in a game that neither team particularly cared about, and the other was before the Wild acquired resident super-star Devan Dubnyk. Make no mistake, Wilderness, this is a series the Wild can win.
