Wilderness Walk: Offseason Acceptance Edition

New, comments

Gradual acceptance of the Wild's 2nd round exit and looming offseason has progressed through the Wilderness. Reminiscence and reflection have kicked in, and the dissection of the season has begun. Welcome to Summer.

Marilyn Indahl-USA TODAY Sports

Any day is a great day that we can share highlights of our favorite team.  Today there are 2, but sadly neither is playing for the Minnesota WildChowdah Charlie Coyle scored to tie it up for the US vs Slovakia at the IIHF World Championship.  The team would hold on to force overtime and Jack Eichel would ice it for team 'Murica.  The second highlight comes as Kyle Brodziak absolutely ROBS Marco Scandella of a hit in a softball scrum at Target Field.  We hope these highlights continue to ease your transition into the offseason.

Today's biggest news should not shock the Wilderness, but it was revealed  that Josh Harding is expected to announce his retirement soon.  Harding has been through a lot since it was discovered he had Multiple Sclerosis, including being the best goalie in the NHL for half a season before losing the rest of that season to treatment of the disease.  Perhaps his work with Harding's Hope, the charity he founded after being diagnosed with MS, will prove to be much bigger than what he could have accomplished in hockey.  A long round of stick taps to a guy who is and will continue to be an inspiration for those fighting a terribly debilitating disease and everyone who supports them.

You can continue to feed your offseason hockey withdrawal here at HW, we'll keep delivering the news and analysis until there is no more news or analysis possible.  Here's a beer on behalf of Reel Big Fish.  We Walk:
