Who knew that Niklas Backstrom would be arguably the Wild's best player on a night that was surprising he even saw the ice? There were some good signs from the WIld's 3rd - 6th lines and D-pairs were able to contain the Jets and play to a frustrating 0-0 tie in regulation. 3-on-3 hockey continues to excite with seemingly endless back and forth rushes that are bringing some fireworks to the fans. Of all the simulated OT's, only one has gone to a shootout, so the plan seems to be working.
Next up, the Wild take the team to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets. It will be very interesting to see who cracks the lineup for this game. Mike Reilly will be a hot discussion topic since he snubbed the Blue Jackets and signed with the Wild, but after playing back-to-back games, he figures to get a rest. Some things are looking a little bit up following a better effort in Winnipeg. Tyler Graovac has started to answer Mike Yeo's challenge to step up and make an impact. Dumba scored the OT winner, so there's more to be positive about following the second preseason game.
Today's Walk musical selection is dedicated to last night's opponent, the Jets. Walk on.
