Wilderness Walk LATE Game Edition (Take 2)

New, comments

Right back at it with another late night affair, this time against the Los Angeles Kings.

It's no surprise that the Wild wouldn't allow you to go to bed at a reasonable hour last night.  They could have either brought their game and dominated the Ducks, or alternately let the Ducks have the game early so you could go to bed with a clear conscience.  They did neither.  They played their brand of grinding, cycling, low-event hockey against a team that had the same effect on them.  Not surprisingly, the game was tied after 1 period.  And the same at the end of the 2nd...

Ultimately the Wild would reward its fans with a few extra minutes of sleep by surrendering the go-ahead goal to the Ducks with 6 minutes left and mercifully didn't take the game to overtime.  I'll let Pat Micheletti describe the game for you:

And now it's right back in action against the Pacific Division leading Marian Gaborik and the Los Angeles Kings.  The Kings started the season slowly but have come around in a big way and have rejuvenated a couple of aging veterans to jump out to a 12 point lead in their division.  Darcy Kuemper looks to get the start in the same building he backstopped the Wild to an overtime loss, allowing only 2 goals in over 60 minutes of work.  The Wild will have to challenge their legs and strike early against a team that is sure to use its physical presence to wear the Wild down.

Here's an interesting graph that shows the State of Hockey's dedication to its NHL club amongst the rest of the league.

Well, we made it through a whole day without a music legend passing away, so here's a song that's apropos of the times.  We Walk.
