It's hard to find too many words for the place we find ourselves at. We have a full week off of Wild hockey with the leftover residue of one of the most disappointing losses in recent memory on the heels of a stretch of disappointing play. The Wild is losing when it should be, losing when it could, losing when it shouldn't be, and losing when they have no business to. It's tough. And it's starting to solidify that this team needs to find itself nose-down at some point in the season to discover its desperation. There are coaching issues. There are player performance issues. There are nerves, and luck and a regressing PDO. The Wild is snakebitten as a team. There isn't an end in sight. They are still likely to make the playoffs, but something has to give. And it's at this point that a GM could be very tempted to make a desperation trade and put the team's future at risk. This is a place that no one wants to be.
It's not often we surround our favorite team with doom and gloom, but sometimes you just have to let it all out. So, let's use today for that - let it out - so that we can move on to being constructive and looking forward. I'll let Twitter do the rest of the talking:
Nope. Not even an above average night's sleep kept me from remembering what I saw from the #mnwild last night. Pure amateur hour.— Tom Hoen (@thoen88) January 26, 2016

It's not that the Wild lost, it's that its inventing new ways to lose. There is absolutely no excuse for the way that game transpired.— Joe Bouley (@JoeBou15) January 26, 2016
5 home games in Jan against very average schedule....0-3-2, 7 goals scored, 2.18 GAA, .913 save%, perfect 0-for-8 on PP. Pretty awful month.— Tom Hoen (@thoen88) January 26, 2016
