Mikko Koivu's status is still up in the air, Devan Dubnyk is heading to Music City as an All-Star and the Philadelphia Flyers are in town for the Wild's shortest homestand of the year. Next up will be a visit to Dallas on Saturday before coming back to the X for 3 games next week. It was a fairly busy news day for your Wild.
Dubnyk will be the lone representative in the new-look 3-on-3 All-Star game. To the dismay of many Wild and Nashville fans, Ryan Suter will not be booed during the game as the hometown squad will roll their top pair of Roman Josi and Shea Weber. It would have been kind of neat to see Weber and Suter reunited for the game, and also to see what would happen when Suter touched the puck at the same time Weber is on the ice.
Wild scoring leader and Kaptain Mikko Koivu was also not selected, though he is having a resurgent year. However, his injury last night could potentially have left his status in the air anyway, and we won't know much more until tomorrow. Here's the latest:
#mnwild off, so likely no Mikko Koivu update til Thurs. Told he was spitting up blood, which is why taken to hospital as precaution (1/2)— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) January 6, 2016
Hockey Wilderness will keep you posted as things develop, so stay tuned here and on Twitter.
Tonight, we look forward to taking on a struggling Flyers team whose breakout star from last year Jakub Voracek got out to a rough start, and has led the team to 6th place in the Metropolitan. Check out Broadstreet Hockey to Know Thy Enemy.
As promised, here is the remix of yesterday's track for your listening pleasure while we Walk:
