Good morning. I'm writing this just after midnight. The Oscars are over. They were mostly entertaining, and I am not bothered by the results. (For the record, my top three films of 2015: 3) the Martian 2) Tangerine 3) Mad Max: Fury Road.) As you're reading this it is the morning of the trade deadline. Things are happening. The world is changing around us. I am probably asleep.
I'm an insomniac with a head cold who doesn't have to work tomorrow — today? — so I'm planning on sleeping in. I fully expect the Wild to do something incredibly stupid before I wake up. I have prepared some reactions for different possible situations so you won't have to wait until afternoon for my hot takes.
The Wild trade Jonas Brodin and a 2nd to Toronto for Nazem Kadri.
I don't hate this. Kadri might not be a "true one c" but he's close. I look forward to seeing him on a line with his former WJC enemy Nino Neiderreiter. Also, I might be a Leafs fan now? Their front office seems really smart.
The Wild trade Jonas Brodin to Tampa for Jonathan Drouin.
Wow. Huh. Where has Drouin been for the last month or whatever? When can he get here? Is he alright? I'm concerned. This could be great, or it could be bad.
The Wild trade Matt Dumba to Boston for Loui Eriksson and a 2nd.
Hey guys, I hate to do this, but I can't write here any more. I'm a Panthers fan now. Later.
The Wild trade Jonas Brodin and their 2019, 2020, and 2021 2nd round picks to Edmonton for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov.
Wow. This is amazing. We get a center, a scorer, and I don't even have to feel bad about my child getting traded to that frozen garbage fire because he's going to get to play with his bff. This is so beautiful. Please don't wake me up.
