Tonight the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks square off for the final time this season. Minnesota has won all four meetings with Chicago and would like to remain five points up on Colorado (who defeated Nashville last night) with a win tonight. David Jones has answered the call of duty since being acquired from Calgary, but Jones will be out of the lineup tonight with an "illness" and was banged up pretty good on Saturday night too. Jason Zucker will slide into his spot in the lineup. Torch hopes Zucker can provide some much needed speed that the Wild desperately need. It should be Devan Dubnyk's net tonight too. Dubnyk has been red hot over his five starts allowing two-goals or less in that span.
Chicago hit a bit of a wall in March and just recently won back-to-back games for the first time in a month. The Blackhawks are five points back from securing the Central Division. Goaltender Corey Crawford has been out for the last two weeks and their still isn't a timetable for his return. So another episode of the Scott Darling show will be airing in the net tonight. Chicago still owns a top ten power play but they have not scored a power play goal since March 9th.
Minnesota has a season-best, five-game win streak and has points in seven of its last eight games (6-1-1).
Zach Parise was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week Monday after scoring five goals.
The Blackhawks are 39-6-4 this season when scoring first.
This preview will be the last post for the HW community... I recently accepted a big-boy job and can no longer contribute to the site. I just wanted to say thank you to all my editors, colleagues and most importantly the HW community. I joined HW about two years ago and have loved every minute of it. No other site could allow this much Thomas Vanek love. It has been one hell of a ride, go Wild, go 26 and go HW. PEACE.
