Optional #mnwild skate. No David Jones— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) March 31, 2016
This mornings skate was optional and without David Jones again. He hasn't skated since the Colorado Avalanche game last Saturday and even though coach John Torchetti insists he is sick it isn't crazy to think there could possibly be an injury since he was beat up pretty badly against the Avalanche. Ryan Carter is not playing tonight because his wife was giving birth to their baby this morning.
Sounds like there are one or two game-time decisions for the #mnwild tonight, so there's a chance Porter plays— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) March 31, 2016
Another update worth mentioning is Russo said there could possibly be a couple game time decisions and Porter could be in the lineup. Carter is a left wing so if he does play my guess is he'll take Carter's spot on the fourth line and Justin Fontaine will be healthy scratched. This wouldn't be the first time Fontaine has been scratched and he has been rather cold offensively lately even for a fourth liner.
Projected Wild Lines
Zach Parise - Mikko Koivu - Charlie Coyle
Thomas Vanek - Mikael Granlund - Jason Zucker
Nino Niederreiter - Erik Haula - Jason Pominville
Chris Porter - Jarret Stoll - Jordan Shroeder
Ryan Suter - Jared Spurgeon
Marco Scandella - Jonas Brodin
Mike Reilly - Matt Dumba
The Wild are looking to extend their win streak to a season long 7 games tonight. They will should be coming out hot and ready to go after regular season series sweep against the Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday night and then a day off yesterday. Devan Dubynk is red hot right now and with scoring help from his teammates he should be ready to help them win and widen the point gap between them and the Avalanche for the final wild card spot.
No skate today. The #Sens will have a noon (EST) meeting at the rink before facing the Minnesota Wild. Get some injury updates then.— Bruce Garrioch (@SunGarrioch) March 31, 2016
Ottawa Sun writer Bruce Garrioch was also plenty busy this morning. The Sens did not have a morning Skate but they did have a meeting. The Sens called up Defenseman Ben Harpur from Binghampton. Mark Stone went back to Ottawa and will not make the road trip after leaving last night's game against the Winnipeg Jets with a chest injury. Michael Kostka will also be out with an undisclosed injury. Ben Harpur will take Kostka's spot and Scott Gomez will take Stone's spot in the lineup tonight.
Projected Senators Lineup:
Zack Smith - Jean Gabriel Pageau - Scott Gomez
Mike Hoffman - Mika Zibanejad - Alex Chiasson
Ryan Dzingel - Nick Paul - Bobby Ryan
Matt Puempel - Curtis Lazar - Chris Neil
Fredrik Claesson - Erik Karlsson
Marc Methot - Cody Ceci
Ben Harpur - Chris Wideman
The Senators were officially announced as out of the playoff race after last nights game so there is nothing on the line tonight. That doesn't mean they won't come out strong but losing would not be a surprise nonetheless.
