Last night the St. Louis Blues looked like they were going to drop the ball on closing out their series with the Dallas Stars after the Stars notched 3 early goals. But the Blues were not going to go down quietly. Long story short, Blues lose 3-2 but holy hell did they put the pressure on big time in the second period. If you want to see the Stars get completely owned for 20 minutes, go back an watch the second period in last nights game.
So, a game 7 in Dallas will be had. Hope you're all ready to hear the Stars fans with what I'm going to call the dumbest "tradition" in sports. The fans actually yell out "STARS!" when that word comes up (TWICE!) in the National Anthem. Piggy-backing on the Winnipeg Jets tradition of emphasizing "True North" during the Canadian National Anthem, which actually has meaning behind it. The Stars fans just make me think it's the only word in the National Anthem they actually know. It is Texas, so that might not be far from the truth.
But I digress...
Conversely, the San Jose Sharks had everything going for them, except for the fact that they are still the Sharks of course. The Sharks built up an early 2-goal lead but the Nashville Predators came roaring back and won the game 4-3 in overtime sending their series to a 7th game as well. The greatest spectacle in sports is upon us in glorious fashion. The battle for the Western Conference Final, win and your in. Emergency shipments of Tums are currently making their way to St. Louis, Dallas, Nashville, and San Jose.
On the docket tonight, the Washington Capitals look to extend their Presidents Trophy winning season and push their series against the Pittsburgh Penguins to a game 7 as well. The winner of this series of course gets the reward of facing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final.

A final farewell to Bloomington's iconic Thunderbird Motel - StarTribune.com
The Thubderbird Motel sat directly across American Blvd from the old Met Center. If you never had a glimpse of the inside, back in it's heyday, you really missed out on something special. This was the hotel of choice for visiting hockey teams back when the North Stars were its neighbor. Being a kid of a certain age, watching this amazing building get torn down to make way for future MOA expansion this summer/fall will be bittersweet.
