The coaching plot thickens, #OneOfUs steps up for Team USA

Boudreau or Alfred Hitchcock?
Boudreau or Alfred Hitchcock?
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The head coaching picture in the NHL got a little more cloudy today as the Calgary Flames (using very interesting timing) announced they had relieved Bob Hartley of his coaching duties, opening a third head coaching vacancy in yet another franchise that could strongly target Bruce Boudreau.  It has been speculated that Hartley may have been let go simply because of Boudreau's availability, but TSN's Bob McKenzie is strongly disputing that.

Michael Russo reports that Chuck Fletcher traveled to southern California today, presumably to meet with Boudreau and Randy Carlyle, who is also in the area.  Russo went on to tell KFAN he thinks a coaching decision could come in the next week and that Boudreau's availability may have accelerated the process.  However, it is unclear where the highly sought-after coach will land.  All of the openings have attractive components to them and Boudreau has personal history or family to tie him to all 3 franchises with openings.  Could be a very interesting week indeed.  Of course, now Bob Hartley can be added to a list of potential coaches for the Wild.

Turning to a player perspective, we get to see how Jordan Schroeder will be deployed at the World Championship.  You'll hear more about him later today in his exit interview.

Whether you slip out the back or make a new plan, Paul Simon will accompany your morning Walk:
