Wilderness Walk: MAYHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New, comments

The NHL GM's went b-a-n-a-n-a-s and traded everyone for everyone.

allstate.com

Well I wrote a bunch of stuff, and then MAYHEM broke loose across the NHL.  It appeared the hacking group Anonymous may have taken over the NHL GMs technology, but it ended up being real.  First Elite LW Taylor Hall was traded for up and coming RHS D Adam Larsson 1-for-1 between Edmonton and New Jersey.  Then we heard that Steven Stamkos was staying in Tampa Bay for 8 years at $8.5M.  Then we found out that Shea Weber will take his terrible contract north to Montreal in exchange for something called P.K. Subban who will find his new home in Nashville..... To all of this news... I can't even.....

Jason Zucker, the speedy winger from Las Vegas, is the first domino to fall in the Wild's offseason free agent pool.  Zucker returns to the team on a 2 year deal worth a total of $4M or $2M AAV, leaving the Wild with just over $12M to spend on 7 roster vacancies.

So, where do the WIld go from here?  They are said to be closing in on deals with Darcy Kuemper and Tyler Graovac with Zac Dalpe and Jordan Schroeder potentially headed to arbitration, maybe looking for lucrative two-way deals.  Matt Dumba is the largest RFA project still being worked on, and then free agency opens on Saturday.  Still lots of trades being considered as well, we're being told.  All just speculation and conjecture, and figures to be until the free agent frenzy has died down a bit.  We'll be here to help you through the wait.

This morning's music is absolutely apropos.  Enjoy your Thursday
