Iowa takes an OT win to comeback from 4-0 loss against Cleveland Monsters

Iowa's 4-0 loss to the Cleveland Monsters on Sunday and the OT win last night basically sealed their playoff hunt.

On Sunday Iowa lost 4-0 to the Cleveland Monsters, one of their worst rivals in the playoff race with Alex Stalock still in the NHL, Steven Michalek started the game. Michalek made 26 saves on 29 shots, with one empty net goal against. Iowa got outshot 19-30 in the game.

Last night Iowa managed to win in OT with Stalock back but the playoff hunt is still pretty much over with Iowa 6 points back from the Monsters who have 78 points. Alex Stalock really got a good work-out in the first with 18 shots by the Monsters but he was able to stop all 18 shots. Anton Forsberg also managed to stop all 8 Iowa shots.

With just 8 seconds left in the second period Gustav Olofsson opened the scoring. Colton Beck and Mike Reilly assisted on the goal. Iowa outshot the Monsters 12-9 in the period.

Zac Dalpe, who started the season with Minnesota, tied the game at 9:04 in the third, and the 1-1 score would hold until the end of regulation. Iowa again outshot the Monsters 12-8. Tyler Graovac then ended the game in OT after just 1:08. Iowa had 3 shots in OT, while the Monsters didn't have any. Alex Tuch and Mike Reilly assisted on the OT goal.

Alex Stalock ended up with 34 saves on 35 shots, which got him 1st star. Tyler Graovac with his OT winner ended up 2nd star, and Gustav Olofsson with the first goal was 3rd star.
