Let’s go over some news and notes:

- The Wild lost again last night, but they lost in the shootout! And that means this could just be the start of another point streak! [Hockey Wilderness]

- Kaapo Kahkonen may not have gotten that W last night, but he sure has been playing well in his stay with the Wild. [Star Tribune]

- If the Chicago Blackhawks appear in another Winter Classic, I’ll fight Tommy Hawk. And you know he’s not afraid to get violent. [Second City Hockey]

Off the trail...

- Out of pretty much nowhere, the Stars fired their now former head coach Jim Montgomery for unprofessional conduct. [Defending Big D]

- The World Cup of Hockey won’t be back in 2021, and that’s a real bummer. We need more Team North America action. [ESPN]

- There may not be a team in the NHL worse than the Detroit Red Wings. They just lost their 12th straight game, which is pathetically impressive. [Winging It In Motown]

- Yeah, Patrik Laine remains very good.
