Best of luck, Dean.

Pittsburgh Penguins v Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild have fired head coach Bruce Boudreau, and we already know who will be replacing him as interim head coach — none other than Dean Evason.

The Wild announced Evason’s increased role via Twitter Friday morning.

Evason joined the Wild as an assistant coach in June of 2018 under former general manager Paul Fenton. Prior to joining the Wild, Evason spent six years as head coach of the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals. As head coach of the Admirals, Evason had a coaching record of 242-161-53. He was also an assistant coach for the Washington Capitals from 2005 to 2012.

Evason also had a pretty solid career as a player in the NHL. He played in 803 NHL games (434 of which as a member of the Hartford Whalers), scoring 139 goals and 372 total points in his 13-year playing career.
