A local Minnesota Wild fan is in the running to be named the NHL’s Most Valuable Teacher, and you can help her win the honor!

Erin Stencil, a 6-8th grade teacher from Eagan, Minnesota, is a massive Wild fan who needs your vote to earn the title of MVT. Erin’s favorite player is none other than the captain himself, Mikko Koivu.

Erin’s scouting report:

I teach because…

Becoming a teacher was one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make. Growing up, school really wasn’t my thing but I had so many supportive teachers that guided me to not only be the best student but the best person possible! I fell in love with Family and Consumer Sciences in High School and my teachers helped me develop my passion for not only teaching but teaching FACS!

My favorite part is being able to teach my students real life things, teaching them things that I can help them make personal connections to. There is no better feeling then having a student’s “light bulb” go off. When running real life simulations in my classroom, students are able to relate and connect with the content.

If I played hockey…

Goal Scorer! I love being apart of a team (not that the goalie isn’t) but when your line works together, communicates well, your team is unstoppable! That’s how I like to think our 6th grade team works together, we communicate, work together and after years of working together can all start to read each others minds!

You can help Erin become the NHL’s Most Valuable Teacher by voting for her here!
