It was a slow, boring Wednesday night. Not much was going on in terms of NHL news. And then the new NHL franchise in Seattle decided to drop a teaser for the unveiling of the team’s official nickname.
Now it’s official. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the Seattle Kraken.
A legend from the deep awakens.

It was reported back in January that the new Seattle franchise would be called the Kraken, though there was still a widespread belief that “Sockeyes” could be a candidate as well.
Needless to say, the right decision was made.
Kraken is such a fun name. The logo is gorgeous, the uniforms are unique and the gameday presentation will be on point as the crows screams “Release the Kraken!” before puck drop. It’s just too perfect.

The Kraken will debut in the 2021-22 season, and it’s pretty safe to say that their fans already hate the Vancouver Canucks, which is commendable.
Welcome to the NHL, Kraken!
