Been away for a while. Just been in my zone and recollecting myself. I’ve watched the games. Just haven’t really posted on here. I’ve been at my whiteboard looking for ways to keep Kevin Fiala. I actually found a solution. I’ll post that too, but what if Bill Guerin has his mind made up? There’s two sides of a coin. We have to think of the what if. The Ottawa Senators are heavily interested in pursuing Kevin Fiala. They have the money he wants and a young roster who is ready to make a playoff appearance. Brady Tkachuk is their high rising captain. Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris are their 1-2 center punch. Thomas Chabot is leading their blueline. Matt Murray and Anton Forsberg will be sharing the net. Somewhat. They need a dynamic force to complete their roster. Fiala fits that mold.
Here’s the thing. Guerin needs to take this seriously. He can’t make the wrong trade. He can’t be low balled. His demands need to be high. We don’t want to make a trade that will make us regret it for the rest of our lives. We need to win this trade at all costs. Help us help you Senators. So let’s talk business. Looking at Cap Friendly I was able to seek out a deal that can work for both clubs and did I leak his secret? The Senators can help us land Shane Wright who may fall in the draft. If anything he’s a projected top-10 pick at worst. The Senators can fall in the top-10 in the lottery. All we need is luck. Remember Marco Rossi? Breaking records in Iowa after fighting for his life. A projected top-3 pick where he ended up slipping to 9th. The Wild can miraculously land Shane Wright and it was thanks to the Senators. Wright can replace Fiala’s skillet. The bigger upside is he’s a projected number one center. He can play wing too. Jack of all trades.
Wright can come in as a ELC. We won’t have to worry about extending him during the cap crunch. We are in need of more center depth. He provides what we lack along with Rossi providing that presence as well. Wright is more of the goal scorer though. Another core piece on the cheap with game-breaking potential. It costs to win Ottawa. Don’t think you’ll be slick. You got more prospects on the way. Help us get Shane Wright. You have what you need already. We can use a replacement. We have no choice. I would be pissed if Guerin pulls a Rask. He needs to be the man in charge. So I’m going to demand their 2022 1st round pick. We now have their spot in the lottery as we have the chance to have 2 first round picks and a legitimate top liner no matter what position. Wright landing in Minnesota is the cherry on top. However, that’s not the only piece I want.
I’m targeting Mathieu Joseph from the Senators as well. He’ll be the finishing touch. Someone who is looking to make a name for himself and was in the shadow of the Cup winning Lightning. He didn’t really get the real experience of playing playoff hockey and top-6 minutes. With Fiala out of the picture Joseph could use this opportunity to earn love from Wild fans. They may not be the same player, but Joseph gives me Jason Zucker vibes. He has wheels. He can really skate. He’ll adjust to the team with no problems. He has scoring upside to be similar to how we want Adam Beckman to be, but has more speed and is more developed. Beckman can take time to marinate. Joseph can slot with Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi. Joseph’s contract is only $737,500. However, it’s expiring like Fiala’s. Joseph will be much cheaper. He is more versatile than Fiala. I seen him listed on CapFriendly as a center, but I’m sure that’s a secondary position he’s capable of playing. I have never seen him play center before. So if injuries occur can Joseph be Ryan Hartman? He’s capable of being that kind of player. He has top-6 potential. He isn’t at Fiala’s level when it comes to creating plays in a phone booth with his stick, but he can match his speed and can score off the rush. He’s isn’t afraid of getting into the mix. He doesn’t back down. A Jack of all trades?
We get to see Mats Zuccarello and Kirill Kaprizov continue their dominance. Guerin realizes that these two players are important to continuing success. We won’t be able to afford Zuccarello anymore, but enjoy the fun while it lasts. Kaprizov keeps Zuccarello young out there. Boldy will be a top candidate to replace Zuccarello. Can you imagine Wright in between these two players? Kevin Fiala who? Can you see the ceiling? Untapped. Greater than Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. We’ll have a triple threat. Who will back this up? Rossi centering Tyson Jost and Joseph. That could be an electric line if everything falls into place. Jost and Joseph getting their blessings and playing more minutes with the team’s young superstar in Rossi. Think about that. Both Joseph and Jost have been around great teams and have experience under their belts. They’ll be tasked to prove themselves too. So let’s call this line miracle on ice. Jost and Joseph show that they can offer more to the table than we thought because they are getting a better look. Rossi is ready for stardom. Can you imagine anyone touching this top-6? You’ll have to deal with the GREEF line too and Jesper Wallstedt. Our blueline needs to be structured more physically. Middleton will be re-signed. Matt Dumba will be healthy. I don’t see why we don’t bring up Calen Addison and have 3 dominant pairings to push offense more. He doesn’t have to go anywhere.
We’ll miss Fiala. A lot, but you can replace a talent like his. Not easily, but you gotta do it the right way. You want to match your product with the return. An even trade. We get our center depth fixed and a potential top-6 talent in Joseph. What do you say fans? We are celebrating in Minnesota as we win the draft lottery and take Wright with the top pick. Or if we don’t land #1 overall I can see him falling to us. A RHS who can terrorize a powerplay too. The Senators want to win. So do we. They keep their core faces intact and we get to establish ours. Wallstedt/Wright/Rossi/Kaprizov/Boldy as our next core. You remember we have more prospects coming. We can establish an even better core group. This team will be so fast, physical, and skilled. Terrorizing the NHL. We will have more cap flexibility which is Guerin’s goal. Let be realistic. What we loss in Fiala is what we can gain back with Wright and Joseph being a 1-2 punch in return. If anything I’d use Wright the same way we’re using Rossi because of cap reasons. Rossi is 1C and Jost is 2C. Jost gets to center Boldy and Joseph. This is while you have Wright in Iowa!!!!!!
So Ottawa help us out….
